I want to start reviewing books?I have read that I believe might bring value to you.? Whatever I am currently reading, I will review once I complete and give you an honest opinion on what I thought and if I believe you'd benefit in some way by reading it.? Most of the time these books will be non-fiction, however for this post, we review a fiction story.?
I was excited to read this book because I really enjoy reading Andy Andrew's work.? Picking my favorite book by Andy is a lot like asking me to pick my favorite kid...just can't be done.? He has quickly became my favorite fiction author, though you can put quotes around the word fiction.? When I picked up a copy of his latest?book "The Final Summit" I was hoping it would stack up with his other work....
In "The Final Summit" we get reunited with a character from one of Andy's previous books "The Traveler's Gift"...David Ponder.? Now in his seventies, David is depressed by the loss of his wife and in a very dark place.? During a time of desperation for David, he?is called?upon yet again through divine channels to help save humanity by trying to figure out an answer to save mankind.? This answer is only two words, and he only has five chances to get it right.? With time clicking he joins forces with the likes of Joan of Arc, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and others and together they try to find that two word answer, in only five tries.
I'm not going to give any spoilers here, so if you haven't read this book yet, you are safe.? What I will say though is that I loved "The Traveler's Gift".? I was a little skeptical about having a sequel to such a solid book.? You know the sequel rarely lives up to the original.? In this case, it not only lives up to it, in my opinion, it surpasses it.? I knew I would enjoy this book because of the author who wrote it, however, I didn't think I would enjoy it so much that I would say it might be the best one he has written yet (and that says a lot because I purchased multiple copies of "The Noticer" to give away as gifts).? This book is suspenseful, funny, entertaining and a joy to read.? In this book?Andrews gives?the best?description of self-discipline I have ever heard.? In it he?says "And success in any endeavor where self-discipline is involved boils down to this question:? can you make yourself do something you don't particularly want to do in order to get a result you would like to have?"? I think the best part of this book, however, is that we get introduced to a character named Eric Erickson.? I say character, but he is as real as Abraham Lincoln, Joan of Arc or any others we get to visit in this book.? I won't give away his story, but you will be amazed and will question why you haven't heard his story in history books before.
I am highly (about as high as I can) recommending this book...you will not be disappointed.? If you have not read any books by Andy Andrews yet, do yourself a huge favor and go find them.? "The Noticer", "The Traveler's Gift", "The Heart Mender" and others are amazing books that will have you turning quickly to get to the next page, and have you thinking about what you read days after you finished.? "The Final Summit" is no different.
